  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup cocoa powder (for chocolate layer)
  • 2 tsp strawberry extract (for strawberry layer)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three round cake pans.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter and sugar using an electric mixer until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time followed by milk.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet until just mixed.
  5. Divide the batter into three bowls: leave one plain for vanilla, mix cocoa powder into the second for chocolate, and add strawberry extract to the third.
  6. Pour each batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow cakes to cool completely before stacking with frosting between each layer.
